Scholarships for College Students

Colorado Press Association College Journalism/Media Studies Scholarship
Up to six $2,500 scholarship awards will be awarded to undergraduate  journalism and media students who have declared their major in a related field who are attending a college or university in the state of Colorado. The 2013 scholarship deadline was February 20th. The application for scholarships for the 2014-15 academic year will be posted here in January 2014.

Denver Country Club Scholarship
Scholarships are available to employees of the Denver Country Club who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees.  Applications are also available through the Human Resources office at the Denver Country Club.  Employees are encouraged to re-apply each year.  The 2013 application deadline is June 17th. Desert Storm Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships for the children of Colorado armed forces personnel who were killed or permanently disabled during Operation Desert Storm.  Eligible students were confirmed through a qualification process completed in 1991: Daniel Dillon, Jessica Dillon, David J. Hook, Aimie L. Hook, and Kasey P. George Delos Gardner/Eugene Delos Gardner Scholarship Fund
Scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled in the University of Arizona’s School of Mining and Geological Engineering. Applicants must have a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.75 (or 3.0 in their major) and have unmet financial need. Helen M. McLoraine Nonprofit Employee Scholarship
Helen M. McLoraine Nonprofit Employee Scholarship Scholarships for employees at selected metro Denver area human services agencies who are pursuing undergraduate and graduate coursework related to their career.  The 2013 application deadline was April 2nd. Helen M. McLoraine Opportunity Scholarship
Scholarships for individuals who have had to face extraordinary or challenging circumstances, have actively taken steps to improve their lives, and are committed to advancing their education. This program is open to clients and former clients of the Challenged Athletes Foundation, the Emily K Foundation, Escuela de Guadelupe, Excelsior Youth Center, Mount St. Vincent Home, On Our Own, PHAMALY, Urban Peak, Warren Village, the WINGS Foundation, and selected Boys and Girls Clubs.  The 2013 application deadline was April 17th. The 2014 application will be posted here in February 2014.

Helen M. McLoraine Scholarship for Foster Care & Emancipating Youth
Scholarships for individuals who have been in the Colorado foster care system for a minimum of 24 months between the ages of 13 and 18 who are planning to attend or are attending a trade or vocational school, community college, or four-year institution. This program is for youth in the Colorado foster care system or youth that have emancipated. Scholars may receive funding for up to three years.  The 2013 application deadline was March 18th.  The 2014 application will be posted here in January 2014.

Janus Next Generation Scholarship
Scholarships for the children of Janus, INTECH, and Perkins employees.  The 2013 application deadline was April 19th. Applications for 2014 will be available on MyJanus and from the Human Resources office at Janus in March of 2014.

King Soopers "Hope" Scholarship
Students at Fairview and Rosedale Elementary Schools were selected to receive awards of $450 or $500 each semester for academic achievement.  The funds are held in trust by The Denver Foundation until the student graduates from high school and enrolls in a college, technical school, or other program.  The last scholarships were awarded in the Spring of 2001.  If you received an award through this program and would like to claim your scholarship, contact Jack Czarniecki at 303.996.7328 or jczarniecki@denverfoundation.org.

Reisher Family Scholarship
Scholarships awarded to: 1) students who have completed two years at a community or junior college and will be transferring to Metropolitan State College, Colorado State University, the University of Northern Colorado, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and the University of Colorado Denver in the spring, summer, or fall and 2) current students at these schools who will be sophomores in the fall.  Applicants must be Colorado residents, have at least a 3.0 cumulative G.P.A., have financial need, and have shown involvement in their school and/or community.  Awards cover a student's unmet need and can be renewed if the student meets the program guidelines.  Applications can be obtained from the financial aid offices at participating schools.

The Terry L. Priest Scholarship
Scholarships for undergraduate students who plan to pursue a career in the field of transportation, logistics, or supply chain management. The application deadline for the 2013 school year was November 5, 2012. Winifred R. Reynolds Educational Scholarship
Scholarship of varying amounts are awarded to students pursuing a graduate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or an equivalent field. Applicants must have financial need and have earned at least a 3.5 G.P.A. for graduate level work that they have completed.  The 2013 application deadline was April 8th. Applications for 2014 scholarships will be available in February 2014.
