Colorado Press Association – College Journalism Faculty Program
College journalism professors who teach at four-year colleges or universities in Colorado are selected to complete a 2 week internship at the newspaper of their choice. The internship is designed to give college journalism professors the opportunity to meet with publishers, editors, advertising directors, and production managers to discuss current newspaper operations, technology, news-gathering, business models, and ethics. A $500 stipend is provided upon successful completion of the internship. The 2010 deadline was April 2, 2010. Information about 2011 internships will be posted here in January.
Colorado Press Association - High School Newspaper Advisor Program
Teachers and professional school staff members are selected to complete a 2 week internship at the newspaper of their choice. The internship is designed to give high school newspaper advisors the opportunity to meet with publishers, editors, advertising directors, and production managers to discuss news coverage, ad sales, technology, page design and editing. A $500 stipend is provided upon successful completion of the internship. The deadline to apply for a summer 2010 internship was April 2, 2010. Information about 2011 internships will be posted here in January.
Columbine Memorial Scholarship (for Teachers and Professional Staff) One $1,500 scholarship awarded annually to a Jefferson County high school teacher or professional staff member. The 2010 deadline was March 19th. Application information for 2011 scholarships will be posted here in January.
Mikkelson Mathematics and Science Scholarship
Scholarships of varying amounts awarded to math and science teachers at the middle and high school levels to allow them to attend short courses, seminars, and workshops which will improve or renew their technical knowledge and skills. The 2010 application deadline was April 2nd. Application information for 2011 scholarships will be posted at http://www.mikkelson.com/ in December.
