Denver Post Columnist, Tina Griego, highlights the Aurora Human Rights Center (AHRC) in her July 14th article. The AHRC, is a cooperative office space that houses five nonprofits: El Centro Humanitario, Rights for All People; the Lowry Family Center, the Somali Community Center, and The Denver Foundation’s Strengthening Neighborhoods satellite office. The idea for the center was sparked and supported by The Denver Foundation and the Buck Foundation, under the behest of Mims Buck, a 101 year old philanthropist
Griego writes: “Like other nonprofits in the city, the AHRC seeks to do more than serve clients. It wants to grow leaders. What's different here, the experiment, if you will, is how to take five entities sharing one building and make them more than five entities sharing one building.”
