Bequest Language

Following is sample wording that you or your client may use when bequeathing a gift to The Denver Foundation.

For bequests split between The Denver Foundation's Community Endowment and a Donor Advised Fund:

I (name) of (city, state, ZIP), give, devise and bequeath to The Denver Foundation the following: (amount of gift, or percentage of estate, or description of property). This gift is to be divided equally between the Foundation’s unrestricted, community endowment, and the Foundation’s (specific name of donor advised or field of interest) Fund.

For bequests used to establish a Field of Interest Fund at The Denver Foundation:

I (name) of (city, state, ZIP), give, devise and bequeath to The Denver Foundation the following: (amount of gift, or percentage of estate, or description of property). I direct the Foundation to use this gift to establish a Field of Interest Fund to be known as the (Name) Fund and to be used for the following purpose: (identify the cause, topic, or area to be supported, such as early childhood education, the arts, healthcare, animal health, etc.).

For bequests given for a specific program:

I (name) of (city, state, ZIP), give, devise and bequeath to The Denver Foundation the following: (amount of gift, or percentage of estate, or description of property). This gift is to be used exclusively for the Foundation’s (name of program, such as “Strengthening Neighborhoods”) program.
