Overview
Of the 12 Board members 6 are male and 6 female. Of these 3 are White males 3 African-American males 4 are white women 1 is an African-American woman and 1 Native American. One of the men is gay.
Rates are not fixed but are based on a sliding-scale depending on the requesting organization's budget.
The DARRT Board members have taken advantage of training opportunities offered both locally and nationally. For example the Coordinator attended a workshop "Crossroads" conducted by Joseph Barndt author of "Dismantling Racism". At least twice a year DARRT Board members particpate in trainings on both issues for DARRT training and facilitation techniques. One of the DARRT Board members has a Masters Degree in Non-Profit Management. One of the founding Board members of DARRT assisted in the preparation of "Facing Racism: A Vision of the Beloved Community" approved by the 1999 General Assembly of the Presyterian Church (USA) One of DARRT's Board members worked for 20 years with the Urban League of Chicago. Another DARRT Board member also served on the Board of a mostly minority community development corporation Inner-city CDC. Another DARRT Board member has chaired the Commission on Racial Harmony with the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado. DARRT is affiliated with the Denver Presbytery
The DARRT training closes with a "Visioning" exercise in which the participants are asked to "see an alternative to the present reality so that we can then begin to make changes in that reality".
