Francis H. Mahon Scholarship (UA)

The Francis H. Mahon Scholarship was created to provide scholarships for low-income students who have unmet financial needs and are studying full-time to complete a college degree.

Eligibility

• Be a graduating high school senior from one of the following schools: Arrupe Jesuit, Bishop Machebeuf Catholic, Holy Family, Mullen, Regis Jesuit, or St. Mary’s Academy
• Will be enrolled at an accredited, 4-year post-secondary institution located within the U.S. in the fall of 2026
• Will be enrolled full-time at your post-secondary institution
• Cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5+
• Demonstrates financial need

• Financial need
• Scholastic potential
• Academic performance
• Character
• Academic aspirations

Award details

• Scholarship Range: $7,500
• Typical Number of Awards: 6 – 10
• This scholarship is renewable for up to four additional years (while pursuing an undergraduate degree). Must meet eligibility requirements every year. An individual may only receive an award from this fund up to a total of five times
• Award amounts may be used toward the recipient’s tuition, fees, required books and supplies, room and board, and other qualified educational expenses
• All scholarships will be paid directly to a recipient’s post-secondary institution. Award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship policies of a recipient’s post-secondary institution
• Award must be used for the upcoming academic year

   1. List of all extracurricular activities and community volunteering opportunities you have had
   2. Transcript
   3. Response to the following prompt(s):
      1. Think of the one thing that you are most passionate about. What sparked that passion and how has it impacted your life? (5,000 characters or approximately 800 words)
      2. What would you like to study after high school OR are currently studying at a college-level? What inspired your interest in this area? What do you hope to achieve with a degree in this field? Be sure to address each prompt in your response. (5,000 characters or approximately 800 words)
