Viking Scholarship (UA)


The Viking Scholarship provides a scholarship to a graduating North High School or North Engagement Center senior who will be attending Metropolitan State University of Denver, or any public Colorado community college or technical school.

Eligibility

High school seniors graduating from North High School or North Engagement Center in May who meet all of the following requirements are eligible.

  • Is considered a first-generation college student
  • Cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5+ during junior and senior years
  • Demonstrates the following personal success factors: tenacity, curiosity, and social intelligence
  • Demonstrates financial need through completion of the FAFSA or need-assessment questions
  • Intends to enroll at Metropolitan State University of Denver or any public Colorado community college or technical school on a full-time basis (minimum enrollment of 12 credit hours).

Applications will be reviewed based on:

  • Academic achievements and performance
  • scholastic potential
  • Extracurricular activities and leadership
  • commitment to personal success factors such as tenacity, curiosity, and social intelligence
  • Financial need

Award details

  • Scholarship Range: $10,000
  • Typical Number of Awards: 1
  • This scholarship is renewable for up to four consecutive years while pursuing an undergraduate degree. Must meet eligibility requirements every year. An individual may only receive an award from this fund up to a total of four times.
  • Award amounts may be used toward tuition, fees, books, health insurance, transportation, and other educational expenses as defined by the college/university’s Cost of Attendance.
  • All scholarships will be paid directly to a recipient’s post-secondary institution. Award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship policies of a recipient’s post-secondary institution
  • Award must be used for the upcoming academic year

  2. Log into TDF Scholarship Manager and apply for the Universal Application
  3. Prepare and submit the following items:  
    1. List of all extracurricular activities and community volunteering opportunities you have had 
    2. Transcript  
    3. Email address for one recommendation
      1. One academic recommendation
    4. Response to the following prompt(s):
      1. Discuss a time when you experienced failure. What steps did you take to stay committed to your goals?
