Jim and Peggy Curtis Scholarship (UA)


The Jim and Peggy Curtis Scholarship was created to support students graduating from Moffat Consolidated School or Mountain Valley High School. Scholarships of varying amounts are awarded to students planning to enroll in a trade school, technical school, community college, or four-year accredited college in the United States. 

Eligibility

  • High School seniors from Moffat and Mt. Valley High Schools  
    • Students who graduated from either high school in the spring of 2024 or spring 2025 are also eligible and encouraged to apply.
  • Students who will attend trade school, community college or 4-year institutions.
    • Demonstrable affinity for Saguache County

Selection criteria

Applications will be reviewed based on:

  • Academic performance
  • Motivation towards completing their goals
  • Reference(s)
  • Commitment to or affinity for Saguache County
  • Preference will be given to:
    • Students who are considering trade/vocational training or community college coursework

Award details

  • Scholarship Range: $1,000+
  • Typical Number of Awards:
  • This scholarship is a one-time award
  • Award amounts may be used toward the recipient’s tuition and fees
  • All scholarships will be paid directly to a recipient’s post-secondary institution. Award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship policies of a recipient’s post-secondary institution
  • Award must be used for the upcoming academic year

    1. List of all extracurricular activities, community volunteering opportunities, and paid/unpaid work experiences you have had
    2. Transcript  
    3. Email address for one recommendation(s)
      1. One academic recommendation
    4. Response to the following prompt(s):
      1. How has growing up in Saguache County shaped who you are and inspired your future goals? (5,000 characters or approximately 800 words)
