Senator Katie Wallace (D- Boulder and Weld) and Representative Rick Taggart (R- Mesa) joined us on May 27 to discuss the Colorado 2026 legislative session. We discussed the realities of our state budget, how collaboration led to many of the session’s successes, and what we can expect in the next legislative session.
We also touched on specific policy proposals and issues, including TABOR (Tax Payer Bill of Rights) and HB26-1274, which is a bill we supported that ensures more equitable and timely funding for nonprofit organizations.
The complete recap can be found below.
The 2026 legislative session was one of the most consequential in recent memory — with more than 600 bills introduced, $1 billion in budget cuts, and the implementation of the new school funding formula — all amid major federal policy shifts.
