Never Forgotten Scholarship – Teachers


The Never Forgotten Fund was established in 2001 by iHeartMedia, Inc. (formerly Clear Channel) at The Denver Foundation to honor the lives of the 13 victims at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. This scholarship is available to high school teachers in the 7 county Metro Denver area. Twelve students and one teacher died that day. The contributions they would have made to the world were lost as well. It is hoped that the recipients of this scholarship will carry on the legacy of these individuals by making a positive and lasting impact in the world.  

Eligibility

  • Have been a teacher at a Denver Metropolitan area high school for at least one full school year
  • Have a strong record of school and community involvement
    • Be enrolled in a degree-seeking program or planning to enroll in college-level classes at an accredited college or university in the upcoming academic year.

Selection criteria

Applications will be reviewed based on:

  • Essay response(s)
  • Community engagement & leadership
  • Academic performance
  • Reference(s)

Award details

  • Scholarship Range: $5,000
  • Typical Number of Awards: 1
  • This scholarship is a one-time award. However, past recipients and applicants are encouraged to reapply each year in a competitive process. Previous recipients are not guaranteed an award upon re-application.
  • Award amounts may be used toward the recipient’s tuition, fees, required books and supplies, and other qualified educational expenses
  • All scholarships will be paid directly to a recipient’s post-secondary institution. Award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship policies of a recipient’s post-secondary institution
  • Award must be used for the upcoming academic year

  3. Prepare and submit the following items: 
    1. List of all extracurricular activities, community volunteering opportunities, and paid/unpaid work experiences you have had
    2. Transcript  
    3. Email address for one recommendation
      1. One recommendation from a school staff member
    4. Response to the following prompt(s):
      1. What news event within the past year has had the biggest impact on you? Discuss why you chose this event and how it has impacted/changed your life or prompted you to take action. 
      2. If selected to receive a scholarship, how do you plan to use the award? How will it impact your professional career?
