Francis H. Mahon Scholarship (UA1)


The Francis H. Mahon Scholarship was created to provide scholarships for low-income students who have unmet financial needs and are studying full-time to complete a college degree.

Eligibility

  • Will be graduating high school in the Spring of 2025
  • Be a graduating high school senior from one of the following high schools:
    • Arrupe Jesuit, Bishop Machebeuf Catholic, Holy Family, Mullen, Regis Jesuit, or St. Mary’s Academy
  • Be enrolled at a post-secondary institution in the Fall of 2025 that meets the following criteria:
    • Is a 4-year college/university
    • Located in Colorado
  • Be enrolled full-time at your post-secondary institution
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Demonstrates financial need

Selection

Scholarships will be awarded once a year through a competitive process based on the following:

  • Financial need
  • Scholastic aptitude
  • Character
  • Academic aspirations

Additional information

Awards can be used for tuition, fees, required books and supplies, room and board, and other qualified educational expenses

Renewal is not automatic for this award; however, applicants may reapply in subsequent years. All scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient’s school and must be used by January 31 of the year following the award. Award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship policies of a recipient’s college or university.

How to apply 

  1. Read through the eligibility to confirm you meet the requirements for the scholarship opportunity  
  2. Log into scholarship lifecycle manager and apply for Universal Application 2025 – Cycle 2. 
  3. Prepare and submit the following items: 
    1. List of all extracurricular activities and community volunteering opportunities you have had 
    2. Transcript 
    3. Two essays 
      1. Please describe what you would like to study in college, what inspired your interest in this area, and what you hope to achieve with this degree 
      2. Think of the one thing you are most passionate about. What sparked that passion, and how has it impacted your life?
