About the donor

Winifred R. Reynolds was born August 17, 1909, in Los Angeles and is the oldest of three children. She grew up in Ohio and spent all of her summers as a child with her grandparents in Colorado. After receiving her education she taught for many years in Colorado and moved from Fort Collins to San Luis Obispo in 1968 where she taught early child development with emphasis on infancy at the Cal Poly (California Polytechnic State University) campus. Winnie was instrumental in sending child development students into the existing local preschools for “hands-on training” as part of their curriculum. This was done under the supervision of the headteachers and observed by Winnie.

After her retirement from Cal Poly, Winnie kept busy by reading, going to plays and concerts. She died June 5, 2001, at her home and was buried in Denver, Colo.
