Every August we hold our annual investment meeting to provide an inside look at the markets and how they impact our philanthropic investments. This event offers transparency into our investment approach and gives our fundholders an opportunity to learn and connect. This year’s meeting featured a warm welcome from President and CEO Javier Alberto Soto and Jennifer Kilpela, chair of our investment committee. We were privileged to hear from NEPC’s Chief Investment Officer, Tim McCusker, about the factors influencing global markets and how that may impact the long-term performance of our investment pools. NEPC is our investment consultant and advises us on our three investment pools. Finally, our Chief Financial Officer, Margaret Danuser, facilitated questions from the audience.

These discussions underscore the importance of our long-term investment strategy as we look ahead to our 100th anniversary in 2025. We are reminded of the significance of enduring commitments, such as endowments, which play a vital role in strengthening our shared future. In his opening remarks, Soto noted, “An endowment is a lasting commitment to the community. At its core, endowment is about optimism. Making an investment in the long-term future of this community through an endowment gift is an expression of tremendous optimism and hope. It says that we believe this is a community worth investing in because the future of this place is a hopeful one.”
We are grateful for the partnerships and collaborations that guide these important conversations. Stay tuned for future events, and we look forward to celebrating our centennial milestone together next year.
