For 100 years, The Denver Foundation has supported the community we serve when it needed us most, and our neighbors need us now. This week, federal agents conducted raids throughout our community, inflicting fear on many of our neighbors. This, in addition to the risk of critical services losing federal funding and the dismantling of initiatives that expand access and representation to historically marginalized populations, have many in our community afraid and uncertain about our future.
Our role as a community foundation has always been to bring people together and to protect and support all our neighbors. At this inflection point in our history, the foundation will continue to serve as a beacon, working to inspire hope in everyone who calls this place home.

Throughout our history, we have been guided by shared values of respect, dignity, inclusion, and a spirit of collective good. These values have been at the core of our work for the past century and are embedded in our nation’s history. As we look to our next 100 years, the foundation reaffirms our commitment to these values as we endeavor to create a community where everyone can thrive.
As part of this commitment, we will continue to support our immigrant neighbors who have come here seeking freedom and opportunity. Last year, The Denver Foundation and our donors gave almost $2 million to ensure effective legal representation, educational opportunities, and other critical assistance to our immigrant communities.
You can read more about these efforts on our blog. We invite you to join us in supporting this work through a gift to our Critical Needs Fund.
Additionally,
- We will redouble our advocacy efforts and partner with our local and state officials to ensure our community partners have the resources they need to continue providing essential services, and that we continue to value and protect our immigrant neighbors as Colorado has done for decades.
- We will strive to keep our nonprofit partners informed, engaged, and supported as we work together to strengthen our community.
- We will enlist the support of our generous donors to amplify our impact by continuing to invest in those organizations on the frontlines of these efforts.
- We will engage our business community to encourage investments in expanding economic opportunity for all and ensuring their workforces can prosper in Colorado.
- We will remain steadfast in our pursuit of a more just and racially equitable Metro Denver.
We value your partnership and your commitment to this community. Together, we will continue to provide the stability our community needs and instill hope in the hearts of all those we serve. That’s been our north star for 100 years and will continue to light our path for the next 100.
